Please take a reasonable view of cat sterilization, it is really not as magical as you think!

Due to work reasons, I can see a lot of shit shoveling officers' opinions on sterilization of cats every day. In general, the public's awareness of cat sterilization is seriously insufficient.

At present, there are two types of shit shoveling officers' cognition on cat sterilization. The first kind of shit shoveling officer believes that cats must be sterilized, sterilization means happiness for cats, cat sterilization can prolong life, and some people even think that sterilization is given by the owner. Welfare of cats.

The second type of shit shoveling officer believes that sterilization is too cruel and deprives cats of their reproductive rights.

First of all, I want to tell you that the above two views are wrong! At present, when neutering a cat, the veterinarian will only tell you the benefits of neutering your cat, but not the disadvantages of neutering your cat.

Yes, cat neutering has disadvantages. In December 2019, one of my female cats developed anesthesia allergy during neutering. After 3 days of rescue, she returned to the cat. Although the probability of anesthesia allergy is extremely low when the cat is neutered, it does exist, and once the allergy is almost certain to die, the veterinarian will not tell you, he will only tell you that the probability is extremely low.

Secondly, male cats are born with urethral strictures, which are prone to cause urinary calculi and urinary retention. Once the cat becomes fat and does not like to exercise after sterilization, the probability of male cats with urinary retention and blood in the urine increases linearly.

Urinary abstinence is not fatal to cats, but once it occurs, it will recur repeatedly, and it will be extremely painful for both the owner and the cat. These, veterinarians will not tell you.

So please treat sterilization reasonably. It's not that the cat is an adult. The shit shoveling officer will immediately take the cat to sterilize it, and give the sterilization as an "adult gift" to the cat. If your cat knows you think so, it may scold her mother!

But please note that the purpose of this article is to make everyone think about sterilization reasonably, don't sanctify sterilization, let alone demonize it, and it doesn't mean that there are disadvantages in sterilization, so cats should not be sterilized.

My personal opinion is that when the cat should be neutered, it must be done, but the necessary premise of neutering the cat is that the cat needs to be neutered. Note that the cat needs it, not the owner thinks the cat needs it.

Female cats generally go into estrus when they are adults, and I personally highly recommend neutering the female cat, because after the female cat is in heat, if she does not mate, the female cat will bark, and the noisy owner cannot rest normally.

Even if the owner can endure the female cat's meowing, the cat's uterus will become congested after each estrus. This long-term estrus congestion will greatly increase the chance of the female cat suffering from uterine disease! Then we can think that the female cat needs to be neutered.

Compared with the recommended sterilization of female cats, male cats have to choose "neutered" or "non-neutered" depending on the situation. Male cats are very magical animals. They do not take the initiative to come into heat. Only the pheromones secreted by a female cat in heat nearby will be received by the male cat, and the male cat will be in heat. Therefore, some male cats will not be in heat all their lives by chance, so this male cat does not need to be neutered.

Secondly, after some docile male cats are in heat, they simply howl and don't urinate indiscriminately. In this case, sterilization is not required.

If a male cat meows after estrus and urinates frequently, arrange for neutering immediately.

Note: "In order to prevent the male cat from suffering from urination after neutering, please use various methods to trick the male cat into drinking water, such as adding water to the meat after cooking the meat, and letting the male cat drink the meat and water together.

The method to determine whether the male cat is drinking enough water is to clean the cat litter box every day. If the male cat's urine and cat litter is 1.5 duck egg size (10 catties cat, other weights can be converted by yourself), it means that the male cat is drinking enough water. .

The last point to say is that, regardless of male cats or female cats, sterilization must be done after the cat is at least 1 year old, and it can even be delayed until 1 and a half years old. A large number of foreign literatures show that the testosterone in the testicles of male cats is the bone development of male cats. Necessary elements, once neutered too early, may make the cat's bones not fully developed.

This article is just some of my personal thoughts on cat sterilization. I hope it can give you some reference. At the same time, I also hope that everyone understands that cat sterilization is really not as magical as you think. Do not take sterilization as an adult gift for cats. .

Sterilization is just a means of treating or serving human beings. It is not as magical as everyone thinks, but don't demonize sterilization, just use it rationally!
