When raising guppies for mass breeding, attention should be paid to the survival of the fittest. Under what circumstances can the breeding fish be eliminated?

Hello all aquarists, I am an experienced fish farmer. For more practical knowledge of ornamental fish breeding and breeding, please pay attention!

I am a fish farmer, please pay attention to more ornamental fish questions, thank you!

Recently, the guppies, which are experienced fish farming, have begun to enter a wave of mass breeding, which is roughly estimated to be ten days and a half months. As a result, the bamboo grass also overgrown the fish tank, and the small fry also showed a state of bursting the tank.

I did a simple cleanup a few nights ago, and eliminated a few adult fish by the way. This work must be done. Otherwise, the rest of the fish will not be able to breed in the model of mixed-breeding of large and small fish like mine. Breeding fish will also appear to feed on small fish.

Since different batches of fry grow in this fish tank, there will definitely be a situation that the smaller the fry are born, the more the first few batches of fry grow, and more and more fry will eventually be able to eat.

Breeding a batch, cleaning a batch, including the cleaning of aquatic plants

First of all, let's talk about the bamboo grass that is constantly bursting out of the tank. The excessively dense bamboo grass provides good shelter and protection for pregnant female fish, newborn fish, and mother fish after giving birth. But it also brings some disadvantages:

  1. The growth of bamboo grass is too dense, which may lead to hypoxia in the water body of the fish tank

This is an indisputable fact. Too dense aquatic plants will also absorb too much oxygen at night, resulting in serious hypoxia in the water body of the fish tank.

  1. The bamboo grass grows too densely, so that we cannot see the stocking density in the fish tank, which leads to the excessive stocking density of small fry

Too many aquatic plants grow, which is not conducive to our observation of the state of guppies. Some diseased guppies died in the grass, and we are not easy to find. In addition, we cannot effectively judge the overall stocking density in the fish tank.

  1. The bamboo grass grows too densely, and the male fish cannot effectively chase the female fish

The last point is that if the bamboo grass grows too densely, it will seriously affect the male fish's pursuit of the female fish, which will reduce the pregnancy rate of the female fish, which will lead to fewer and fewer reproductions.

Therefore, after the same batch of guppies in this tank are roughly uniformly produced, we must properly remove the excessively dense bamboo grass or other aquatic plants in the tank, and then leave sufficient water space.

In this way, we can easily divide the newly born small fry into the tank, and then the male fish may also chase the female fish again. When the next time the bamboo grass grows densely, the pregnant female fish will multiply again. .

There is no problem with the water quality, water temperature and food. The activity of the seedlings is low, and they are staggered or swaying. According to the length of our own breeding, they will be properly eliminated.

Ordinary small ornamental fish such as guppies have the best reproductive age of about one and a half years, and then they will definitely gradually age. In fact, if we buy adult guppies from fish stores, most of them should be in half Above the age, after arriving at home, after raising them for a year, they can basically be gradually eliminated in turn.

Of course, we can't just throw them into the trash in a big batch just like in the fish farm. There are also many factors that need to be considered:

  1. At least there is no problem with water quality, water temperature and food

We must ensure this, and these guppies have been in continuous production here, and the environment is stable, the water quality is stable, the water temperature is stable, and the food is delicious. In general, the water is changed and fed regularly. There has been no disease.

  1. No new fish has been added recently, and there is no possibility of cross infection

We should also pay attention to this point. Many aquarists are constantly adding various new fish to the fish tank, and they do not know how to isolate and observe or quarantine in advance, which leads to the cross-infection and death of the original guppies in the fish tank. This is the disease factor. .

Of course, these all require that we usually have a very detailed understanding of the guppies we raise, and we watch their every move carefully.

  1. The feeble swaying and swimming are already very laborious, and the old state begins to appear

There may also be a situation in which some male fish have too large tails, which makes their movements difficult, and may be trimmed in the fish farm. It is not impossible for our own ornamental fish to do this, but my People are lazy and don't want to work so hard.

However, even if the male fish struggle to swim, the female fish will not. They don't have such a big tail and should be able to move more freely. Therefore, if even some female fish appear to be old-fashioned, this What is the problem?

There are also some female fish. Due to overproduction, they may have symptoms such as slumped waist and back, tilted swimming posture, shaking their head and so on. Just like a female fish in my place a few days ago, the above symptoms occurred. After being raised alone for a period of time, , has gotten better, but still looks a little out of place.

For example, the above-mentioned guppies, which have reached the age of more than one and a half years, have such symptoms of aging, we can remove them individually, and of course, we can also raise them in a single tank, it depends on personal wishes. .

From the small fry in time, select the new force into the tank

Here we only talk about personal breeding and breeding of guppies for fun, not about specialized production, and we don’t need to have so many strains and purebred research.

When we select small fry, we must pay attention to selecting more male fish into the tank, that is, the number of male fish should be more than that of female fish, and it is better to reach the ratio of two to one. There is no special requirement here. As long as the physique is not disabled, the first to develop color can be left as seedlings. When they grow up and like the appearance, they can be appropriately removed according to their own preferences.

After such a cycle, we can slowly remove all the old fish from the fish tank, and gradually replace them with new forces, and our guppies can reproduce and explode continuously.
