Why dog sandbox training is good for you and your puppy

One of the biggest differences between having a cat and a dog is what you do when your pet needs to go to the bathroom. For most cats, you can keep the litter box indoors and let them excrete in the box, but you must clean the litter box once or twice a day. Dogs are different, and you may need to take your dog out to the bathroom.

Well, if you're a dog owner, you recently had to move to another city for work, and you now live on the 27th floor of a high-rise building, if you're taking your dog out every day to poop , back and forth several times, it sounds like it would be very troublesome. So, what other options do you have?

Over time, litter boxes for toilet training dogs have fallen out of fashion and are now usually reserved for cats. However, given how smart dogs are, they are perfectly capable of learning how to use a litter box, just like cats.

What does a litter box for dogs look like?

It's very similar to a cat litter box for toilet training; because the overall idea is the same, just the way it's executed is different. Litter boxes for cats include a small plastic box, and sometimes the top of the box is filled with litter. This litter absorbs urine and forms a clump that then covers the feces, making the litter box experience more comfortable.

The dog's box will be slightly different. It's not a box full of trash, but a larger box consisting of a flat area covered with artificial grass. This box will create an outdoor-like atmosphere.

The box is designed to let any liquid flow through the hole in the grass and onto the plastic base below, rather than allowing litter to accumulate where the animals poop. The plastic base of many such boxes for dogs will be designed to act as a funnel, directing any liquid to a hole in the bottom of the box. This hole can either have a hose attached to it or lead to an empty basin to collect the liquid passing through the box.

Shortly after your dog has used cat litter, you should clean it thoroughly. To clean this box, simply dampen the grass with a watering can or glass. The water flows over the grass, then through the pool and the pipes.

Tips for training your dog to use the litter box

The advice given below applies to all dogs (from puppies to senior pets) to effectively train them to use a litter box.

  1. Find an enclosed area in your home that can be covered with a changing pad or newspaper.

  2. Give your dog a normal portion of water.

  3. Put your dog in the crate for 20-30 minutes, then let them sit in a sheltered area for 5 minutes to see if they go to the toilet. If they do, give them a certain reward. If they don't, repeat the process in the crate for 20-30 minutes.

  4. Once your dog starts urinating on the pee pad, slowly narrow the area where they are allowed to urinate.

  5. If they've gotten used to the small area, move the mat into your crate so you can tell your dog that this is where they should go to the toilet.

  6. Plant real grass in the litter box, this will make the dog more likely to take advantage of it as it will give the dog an outdoor vibe.

  7. This training process will not be completed all at once. So, if your dog can go to the toilet where you ask, you must encourage and reward him in time, because this will mobilize their behavior in the right direction and make it a habit.

The benefits of this training

This type of training has many benefits for dogs and their owners. First, it familiarizes the puppy with the process of urinating at home. This allows a young puppy to be handy whenever he needs it without having to wait for his owner to guide him, which takes the anxiety out of the process. If they can't go to the toilet when they need to, this can lead to all kinds of health problems.

Litter boxes provide dogs with a safe place where they can go to the toilet with impunity, which makes them happier. It also provides flexibility for owners who work away from home for long periods of time. For those dog owners who live in big cities, they don't have to be as troublesome as before, because it provides a good place for dogs to take care of themselves.
