In the process of feeding dogs, the most discussed and most concerned issue is how to make dogs develop good living habits. Today, we will talk about how to make dogs form a good habit of defecation.

The dog’s fixed-point defecation training is divided into two parts: indoor and outdoor. In the puppy period, the dog mainly trains the indoor fixed-point training; the adult dog should combine the owner’s life rules to focus on training the outdoor fixed-point.

  1. Indoor fixed-point defecation training method

(A) Odor induction. Set the defecation point according to the actual situation in the room (mainly set up a square wooden box with a height of 20cm, a length and a width of 1 meter, which contains sand or buy a ready-made toilet board). Inside, the dog can defecate in the box after smelling the induced odor.

(2) Withdrawal point training. When the dog defeces more anywhere, place newspapers or pieces of paper (10cmX10cm) at each defecation place of the dog, and then remove the newspaper spots with less frequent defecation (removed ones) by observing the dog's defecation. The place must be wiped clean without leaving any fecal odor), keep the newspaper points that have urinated many times, and finally move the newspaper points to the box gradually, so as to form the habit of defecation fixed point. This process can be combined with food (items) and petting to reinforce and reward the dog's correct habits, and accelerate the formation of conditioned reflexes.

  1. Outdoor fixed-point defecation training method

(1) Mastering expressions. The owner must master the regularity of the dog's defecation time and frequency, and correctly guide the dog to develop a good habit of defecation at a fixed point outdoors. The most important thing is that the owner must observe and master the behavioral characteristics of the dog wanting to defecate, such as sniffing around in the room, barking anxiously, restless and so on, which means that the dog wants to go to the toilet. At this time, the owner Take your dog outside to defecate quickly.

(2) Master the rules. Studies have shown that dogs usually defecate 20 to 30 minutes after feeding. The owner should make relevant preparations and take the dog outside to defecate regularly. In this way, after a period of training and prolonging the time interval, the dog will gradually develop the habit of defecation once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once after feeding.

  1. Special reminder

(1) Indoor precautions. During indoor training, if the dog defecates anywhere, do not clean it up in front of the dog, so as not to cause it to form a bad relationship between the owner and it.

(2) Outdoor precautions. During outdoor training, after the dog defecates, the owner should clean it up in time so as not to affect the environmental hygiene.

To sum up, as long as the owner is familiar with and masters the dog’s defecation law, and adopts the correct training methods and guidance methods, the dog will definitely develop a good habit of defecation at fixed points.
