Hello everyone, I'm Pet Xiaozhi Shovel Officer, and I only do useful and interesting pet science popularization dry goods.

When you take a kitten home from a cattery or a pet store, what you need to do is not to vaccinate, but to do an inspection first, and then decide based on the inspection results: When to deworm? When should I be vaccinated?

The following 7 checks are really recommended for parents to do.

  1. Feline coronavirus detection

Coronavirus likes to lurk in young cats most. Cats may be symptomatic or asymptomatic. The mutation of coronavirus is feline abdominal transmission (feline infectious peritonitis), and the fatality rate can reach almost 100%. Now the special drug 441 for cat-to-diarrhea is still in the experimental stage, the price is very expensive, and it hurts when it is administered. Therefore, if this virus can be detected as soon as possible, it will be detected as soon as possible, and if it can be treated as soon as possible, it will be treated as soon as possible.

  1. Antigen detection of feline distemper virus

Cats under one year old are susceptible to infection, with an infection rate of 70% and a mortality rate of 50%; cats under half a year old have a mortality rate of 80%. The incubation period of feline distemper is 2-9 days, and it is difficult to judge before the onset, so it is recommended to do a feline distemper virus antigen test before going home.

  1. Blood routine

Routine blood examination can determine whether there is inflammation or infection in the cat, analyze the cause, and use medication; it can also determine whether the cat is anemic and the type of anemia.

  1. Stool detection

The feces are tested for intestinal inflammation in the cat and for the presence of parasites in the kitten.

  1. Wood's lamp inspection

Ringworm is a common skin disease in young cats. Wood's lamp is used to detect whether cats have fungi. Tinea felis appears as a circular fluorescent blue color with hair loss under Wood's light.

  1. Ear canal examination

Ear mites are highly contagious and can be transmitted between dogs and cats. For newly bought kittens, it is best to check for ear mites or Masalaella.

  1. Nutritional assessment

Many bought kittens will be malnourished, don't worry too much, go home and adjust the diet to achieve comprehensive nutrition, and it will be fine in half a month. No need to buy a lot of maintenance products. The key is the staple food. A cat that eats a good staple food will be less likely to get sick.
